Artistic Statement
My imagery exemplifies the diversity of today's world. An abstraction may
seem unfamiliar at the first glance. So we must learn to use our imagination when
viewing the world, whether in nature or through others creations. Remember the
first time you looked up in the sky and saw lions, bears and whales rather than
merely clouds? They were there for everyone to share and experience, yet each
person sees - things- differently! Like the clouds my abstractions offer the
same type of personal yet shared experience to my audience.
Through my journey I have developed my "Mapping" & "Transmutation" series. These works have been inspired through an internal dialogue of contemplation and response. They are an evolution of aesthetics which began at birth, based on my first attempts at self expression and inspired by studies and exposure to nature, ancient and contemporary art and culture. I consider them a new style of unified figure ground painting.
The are my unique perspective and break with the constraints of the past. This is
especially evident in the case of my multi-piece series paintings which can be hung
separately or grouped to form a larger gestalt whole. Creating either a linear timeline or a
singular representation for the viewer to experience time and relativity.

1983: Wolves and Humans Exhibition,
Science Museum of Minnesota, commissioned to complete a traditional mens
dance costume, as part of a traveling exhibit to commence July 1984, and then to
remain on permanent display at the Wolves and Humans Museum in Ely Minnesota.
Funded through the Smithsonian Institute.
1984: Southern Plains Indian Museum Anadarko, OK. Purchased one of my feather head-dress creations for their permanent collection.
1984: Ojibwe Tribute, mixed media sculpture, comissioned by the 1st Bank of Dulth, MN. Displayed in their lobby.
1989: Assisted in the restoration of nine early twentieth century oil paintings,
Grand Metropolitian collection, Pillsbury Corporation.
1989: GBW series 3 paintings purchased for private collection, Mpls, MN.
1990: Mapping #1090 series painting purchassed for private collection, Mpls, MN.
1991: Triptych, commissioned for a corporate collection, Mpls, MN.
1992: Oil painting of the 17th Hole at Pebble Beach, commissioned for a corporate collection, Mpls, MN.
